Skippy is an iOS mobile app that automates drone flight to take pictures of your crops and help you find diseases, pests, and weeds. By importing maps, you can choose points in fields you want to view. Skippy will automatically fly your drone to these points and send you high-resolution, leaf-level images. It will then analyze the captured images and send you a field report with a % of healthy crops, unhealthy crops, weeds, and insect damage.
The client wanted to create an iOS app and needed a technology partner with specific experience in software development for drones, to handle the integration of the hardware SDK with the app. As we have worked on many projects involving different DJI drone models, we were eager to start helping them.
We assigned the top drone experts in our team to start integrating the DJI's SDK into Skippy Scout’s iOS app. With this integration, users were able to centralize all communications and plan the flying routes (taking pictures of the points of interest) using the app. We also worked on including a series of smart features like map cropping.
We worked closely with the client for one year and a half, helping in the creation of their iOS app through DJI’s SDK integration, platform maintenance, and the development of smart features. The app allows you to walk more crops in less time, and get more detail and analysis reports.
