MoviePass

The client

MoviePass is a theatrical subscription service: members receive monthly credits, find films and showtimes near them, check in at the theater and buy their ticket through the app. CodigoDelSur rebuilt its iOS and Android applications from the ground up for the service's relaunch, and worked on the product from 2022 to 2025. Both platform betas passed 100,000 users.

The challenge

MoviePass was relaunching a brand people remembered, and remembered in part for an app that had not held up under demand. The rebuild had to carry a complete consumer product: film discovery, theater search and showtimes, credit-based subscription management, in-theater check-in and ticket purchase. And it had to be ready for a beta whose waiting list was already six figures before launch day.

our approach

CodigoDelSur delivered native rebuilds on both platforms, in SwiftUI on iOS and Jetpack Compose on Android rather than extending the legacy code. The work covered film and theater discovery on MapKit and Google Maps, subscription and credit management, in-theater check-in, ticket purchase through the MoviePass card and ticketing APIs, payments, and lifecycle messaging. Stack: Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Firebase, Stripe, USIO, MapKit, Braze.

The result

Both the iOS and the Android beta passed 100,000 users, on a full native rebuild in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose. Discovery, subscription, check-in and ticketing were delivered as one product on both platforms, across more than three years of continuous engagement from 2022 to 2025.
